Ball Kids from the Australian Open serve up LEGO® fun at LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre
- Sunday 28th January 2024
Serving smiles and inspecting LEGO tennis balls, see what happened when Ball Kids from the Australian Open took part in a very special Creative Workshop with our Master Model Builders.
Fifteen talented ball kids from the Australian Open traded tennis balls for LEGO® bricks in a brick-tastic visit to LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre, marking the conclusion of the iconic tournament. This unique experience showcased the ball kids' creativity as they participated in a LEGO tennis ball build workshop, infusing their boundless energy into the iconic LEGO world.
After visiting the 4D cinema and trialing the brand-new interactive LEGO VR experience, the young athletes then explored MINILAND Melbourne, discovering hidden features, such as Minifigure fans watching a tennis match on the large screen in Fed Square and a small tennis game being battled out behind the MCG.
The highlight of the morning was a specially curated workshop led by Master Model Builder Jordan, where the ball kids engaged in a hands-on "Make and Take" session, crafting their own tennis ball using LEGO bricks.
Putting their skills to the test, the young athletes assessed the LEGO tennis balls for durability and bounce. Despite their creations not meeting the standards of the Rod Laver Arena, the ball kids revelled in the challenge, highlighting their talents and playful spirit.
